PAD April challenge Day 1

Welcome Back

Today is the start of the PAD (Poem a Day) Challenge over on Writers Digest. The theme was to write a foolish poem. Growing up and to this day I adore the ‘silly verses’ of Spike Milligan. This one is for you Spike

The Cat in the Hat

The cat sat on the mat,

Wearing a hat.

Why did he do that?

Yet he sat there looking proud,

And drawing quite a crowd

To see the cat, on the mat

Wearing a hat.

by Billie

I’ve had cats on the brain today. I’ve been like a cat on a hot tin roof all day, and this reminded me of the drawing of a cat my late Mother used to draw for me when I was little. I thought it was a wonderful drawing, but even then wondered why it was like a snowman but with a tail, ears and whiskers. I’ve always taken things literally.

Poetry can be fun, it doesn’t always have to be very deep and full of meaning and emotion. Sometimes it can be a play on words, just to see where they go and what they rhyme with.

If you would like to join in with this challenge you can find details on the Writers Digest website.

Best wishes and thanks for reading, see you soon
